High School to Life (Period 2B)

Course Description

This required semester long senior elective spends time with each of Columbia's graduating students assisting them to leave Columbia with a plan and the tools to execute that plan.
 
The course is also available for 3 Boise State University credits, earning credit in ACAD 101: Academic Success Topics.
 
Whether students are wanting to attend a 4 year, 2 year, trade school, to join the military or to go straight into the world of work, students will research how to get to where they want to get and have the time to do those things.
 
Specific work will include:
-Interest Inventories
-Matching Occupations to Inventory Results
-Researching Institutions that Offer Training and Education for those Specific Occupations
-Applying to Schools
-Understanding Financial Aid
-Applying for Scholarships or Researching Potential Future Employers
-Skills on Being a Lifelong Learner
-Employability Skills (Cover Letters, Resume Building, Interviews, Applications)
-Along with other Miscellaneous Activities
